The International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), as part of its « D-CLIC Train Yourself in Digital Technology » program, which aims to contribute to the efforts of its member states and governments to promote youth and women’s employment, announces the launch of vocational training for 300 young Mauritanians in two booming sectors: fiber optics and web development & design, in strategic partnership with the Institut Supérieur du Numérique (SupNum).

Context: A challenge and an opportunity for Mauritania:

Mauritania faces significant challenges, including high youth unemployment and a growing demand for digital skills. This training, fully funded by the OIF, aims to:

  • Prepare young Mauritanians for jobs in the technology sectors.
  • Support the digitalization of public services and the private sector through qualified skills.
  • Strengthen the empowerment and employability of young people by integrating into promising sectors.

Training Organization:

The training will be conducted in three cohorts, each with 100 participants, distributed as follows:

  • 50 participants in Fiber Optics
  • 50 participants in Web Development & Design

Cohort Schedule:

  • First cohort (100 participants): February to June 2025
  • Second cohort (100 participants): March to July 2025
  • Third cohort (100 participants): April to August 2025

Training Objectives:

The objective is to strengthen the individual and professional digital skills of young people and women in the French-speaking world to improve their qualifications and access to employment.

  • Fiber Optics: Train qualified technicians to install, maintain, and optimize fiber optic networks, essential to the digital transition. Web
  • Development & Design: Web Development & Design: Training professionals capable of creating websites, modern user interfaces, and multimedia content, including video production, to meet the growing digital communication and marketing needs of businesses and organizations.
